Day 2

Day 2 of the GATES event was less hectic than day 1 as after breakfast, we went to keynotes and then we had a panel discussion which took around an hour and a half. After that we had one-on-one meeting for the rest of the afternoon. During part of that time, I was at the help desk aiding people with finding vendors and channel partners to have one-on-one meeting with. I sat there for an hour. Lunch happened after two slots for one-on-one meeting.

For lunch me and the staff had a massive long table in the lunch restaurant where we sat. I got tofu, rice, stir-fried noodles and lots of other items. This was around 2pm. We sat there for a long time while all the other channel members and vendors were having lunch because after that were one-on-ones so we did not have much to do but plan for gala dinner and one or two people would sit at the help desk so when somebody needs help, someone can assist them.

After that, it was one-on-one meetings for the rest of the afternoon.

While that was happening, I was working on my report and writing and adding photos to my report. Then I went up to my room for a bit to get ready for the rest of the evening when we had the gala dinner and AWARDS.

Once we opened the conference room, it took 15 – 20 mins for the hall to fill up with people. We had to give channel partners a voting device. We started 20 mins late due to it taking a while for the room to fill up. 10 mins before the actual thing started, the bar at the back of the room opened up so everyone could grab their drinks but the food had not opened as we wanted to finished the speeches and awards. There were 10 categories for the awards. The photo below shows the awards.

These are the AWARDS that were awarded to vendors.

The last category was the channel executive of the year award that goes to a executive for being high performance, exceptional contribution and achievements. This goes not to a company but a person. The Gala dinner lasted 3 and a half hours including food and a live band. The band had two 30mins slots.

Once most of the people had left, me and another person from GATES’ operation dept. walked around and signed of on the drinks for the evening and after a while we went to the office. We later had a afterparty in my hotel room. Once we had wrapped up, I got ready for bed and then fell asleep. That is Day 2.
